Dreamscape Plot
Dreamscape Plot.
Decided to give it this corny name. Also making a separate post here that I can easily access and edit to keep from going crazy.
The ability: OKAY. First let me surmise Rise's ability again, and clarify a couple things. Rise has the power to show people what they love and/or desire the most. When I say his, I do not mean it solely in a romantic context (but it can be!). It can be any kind of love—romantic, familial, kinship and any kind of desire—your ambitions, your dreams, your goals, that cute dress you saw in the shop window. It can be incredibly simple, or incredibly complex, and of course it can be more than one thing.
The illusions are incredibly complex, touching on all the senses so this will feel very real to them. If they happen to eat a meal while in their dream, they will both taste it and feel full. They will feel the sun on their skin, they will be able to talk to any people who appear in their dream and interact with them in whatever way they wish.
During this plot people will need to be within a certain parameter of Rise. I'm not going to play any exact limits on the distance, but the way it works is that the moment they step within a certain distance of her they will be completely immersed in it. If they get away from her, or if she gets away from them, then it will be broken. Already have the volunteer who will take Rise down and we will be discussing how else they might be able to break it so for the rest of you, this is the only way. When the illusions break is completely up to you. Either they get far enough away, or it will break on its own, eventually when Rise is taken down.
The 3 ways we can do this:
The first one is the easiest. We handwave it. Your characters are in the illusion only as long as they are within a certain vicinity of Rise. This means that if your character moves out of it, or if Rise moves away from them, it will be broken. Please note, however, that the 'people' in their dreams will probably try to keep them inside for as long as possible. So if you want, you can just assume it happened, and participate in the event in any other ways, and just react to it or have those memories for a later point.
You can write it all out yourself, like a fanfic. You control everything that happens, the setting, all the people that come into it. Another fairly simple one.
Lastly and this is where we start getting into slightly tricky ground, but I think this might be the most fun! If certain characters appear in your person's dream, others can play them. For example, lets say I did something with Mulan. Some of the people who might be part of Mulan's dream would be Mushu, Kurapika, and Toph. I'd ask their respective players if they would be interested in playing out this scene with me. If so, then we could discuss how it goes, and log it out together!
For you guys I can also serve as a sort of GM if you want me to (but it's not necessary by any means, in fact I'd prefer it only if you really need me xD). By this I mean I can dictate setting/certain events that happen/random NPCs, what have ye.
If you decide to go with this option, please remember that some people might not be up for it! Especially since there will be certain things that they have to keep in mind since they will be playing your character's 'dream' version or theirs, not their actual characters. Which brings us to the next bit!
Dream People: This is for those people who will be playing dream versions of their characters!
There are two primary things you should keep in mind. The first is while the illusion is meant to capture them very well for realism, its primary purpose is still to cater to the wishes of the dreamer. Therefore if a situation comes in which it is either ICness or what will make the person happy, the dream version would go with the latter which might of course tip the person off to the fact that there is something wrong.
They will also do what they can to try and keep in the person in the illusion as possible. Therefore if the dreamer starts moving away from the vicinity in which they will be affected by the illusion, they will try to keep them in!
Nightmares: Happy illusions are Rise's default. Her aim is to trap people in their perfect world because they are stupid and do not know what is best for them, and she is the only person who can give them what they want so you should all love her and not think she is creepy at all. HOWEVER. She is capable of any sort of illusion if she really wants to, so if you would rather take a darker route and instead give people what they fear/hate the most then that can be arranged as well! All the above rules apply.
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PLEASE REPLY TO THIS POST SO WE CAN PLAN OUT EVERYTHING THAT WE NEED TO. You can also bring in people who might be interest in play Dream!Characters so you guys can work out whatever you want.

If it is any of the first two then have at it, no need for me to know what is happening, but I'd still like you to comment here just so I know that they were under Rise's influence. If you are doing the third however, additional info I'd like is.
Who are the characters involved? Would you need me to NPC any of them? And would you like me to serve as a GM. Remember, if you don't want me in and just want to use Rise as a catalyst THAT IS PERFECTLY A-OK. But if you do want me in it somehow I will need info so I know what I am doing and am not just derping around.

Her biggest desire would be to be back in Xing with Ling and him having the Philosopher's Stone. So... there's working through that. I think Ran Fan would be aware of Rise's ability, though, so that could give her an edge on it. Not sure if her attempting to stop Rise would affect the illusions any, either, like if they would turn from good to bad or something along those lines.
...Yeah, there are a lot of routes we could take XD; I guess figuring out which we're doing is important first (and that also depends on if anyone else is around, lol...). I would say either just plain logging it out or I could do most of the illusion as a fic and then it could go into a log or... I dunno.

Right now I'm a bit confused on what's been proposed for how to get Luki into this? From my understanding Xing wanted them to work together at first, but at some point she's going to go off and tackle some other people. Ran Fan won't be around them the time the MW effects begin, so by the time she arrives Luki will be gone? Is that right?
As for actually getting through the illusions. Yea, I think Ran Fan would know about them for sure. They may not have attempted it before since it requires some really high resonation and I'm not sure if they are there yet, but she'll at least probably know what is going on and I guess sense that it's Rise? She still has her chi-sensing abilities right?
As for whether they would turn on Ran Fan...hmm. As I'm playing it Rise's 'madness' is to turn into one of those suffocating, sort of obsessive parental figures who thinks they know what is best for everyone xD the nightmare thing might work for some people but since Ran Fan is her partner it would be pretty hard to turn her against her in the way. They probably wouldn't go into complete nightmare territory but it could definitely get creepy and uncomfortable.
I think the biggest issue is actually getting to Rise which would mean either breaking it, or being able to attack her from a good distance which both are doable, but the former is probably the more difficult one.

Yeeeeah, if Luki's going off that probably wouldn't work then. I'm confused about all the timeline stuff too, eh heh.
Err, no, she lost her chi-sensing since it isn't considered normal or I'm too lazy to look up the exact wording right now. But if reports are coming in about who's attacking or she realizes she's missing it wouldn't be hard for her to put two and two together.
Ahh, all right. Just curious, we'll see/figure out what'll happen!
Yeeeeeeah, that's gonna be the tough part :|a I tend to be the one to take the more difficult path but I have no idea how that would work right now.

If we go with her trying to take her down from a distance we can have her caught up in the illusions at first, but eventually escape and take to the roof tops? The way I've been imagining that's mostly where Rise will be, and she will be using the snake arrow to keep herself elevated to have as much of a sphere of influence as possible. If Ran Fan can get some sort of long distance weapon (more so than her shurikens) if she lands one hit on Rise I think that would be enough of a distraction to make her drop the illusions and then Ran Fan can more easily finish the job.
If we want to break the illusion maybe we can do something that while the dream people don't want her to get too far away so the targets are no longer effected, neither do they want her to get too close to Rise either since it would be like being in the eye of a storm. She won't effected and she'll be able to take her down there?

Especially since she wouldn't want to like seriously wound her or anything.
And then with the other I know I could figure out the "fighting" part but getting there would be the trick. Getting through the illusions is going to be tough regardless from the sounds of it. I guess I'd lean more toward the actually getting to her approach unless you think the other would be better.
